A Sleek Kitchen Transformation
She was looking for a change after 19 years. Diana Cernohorsky felt that her home at Huntington Place needed a bit of a spruce up. She thought of changing the carpets, but her niece suggested that maybe a new kitchen would make a huge difference. And she was right.
“When you live in a house for so long, it needs upkeep,” says Diana who has been living at the address since 1999.
Diana, a customs broker set about doing some research and getting quotes from kitchen makers. She soon discovered that the service that Jag Kitchens was offering was far more appealing. The company uses state of the art Computer Aided Design (CAD) software that enables clients to see exactly what their kitchen will look like in 3D.
Diana says that a 3-D visual of the new layout gave her plenty to think about. It also helped that Jag Kitchens were willing to recommend trades people required for the job — unlike some other kitchen design companies she had approached.
After a consultation with experienced kitchen designer Hannah Brown from Jag Kitchens, Diana was more confident that they could breathe new life into the tired kitchen — even though they had to work within the required space.
The new kitchen was updated to achieve a more modern fresh look with sleek new white cabinetry and a marble-look benchtop. The length of the kitchen was extended, instantly giving it a more spacious look. The new pantry that is fitted with pull-out drawers is easy to organise and operate. Diana finds that she has a lot more storage space in the kitchen — every woman’s dream come true!
Diana who enjoys baking finds that the new placement of the oven is so much more convenient than bending under the bench to access it. While the existing layout was kept similar, moving the oven to an eye level tower unit with the microwave stacked above, makes it very convenient she says.
The wall cabinets above the cooktop were extended to the window to house the powerpack range-hood, giving it a more seamless look. “The kitchen cabinetry is in Melteca Snowdrift featuring a Caesarstone Statuario Nuvo engineered stone benchtop,” says Hannah. “A neutral colour palette was selected, which means the client can add her own personal touch with coloured appliances or artwork.”
And Diana has done just that with red kitchen accessories that stand out on a white backdrop and adding a splash of brilliant colour. The floor and splashback tiles are a strong feature to the kitchen, adding to the overall sense of aesthetics and style giving it a modern look — one that Diana is truly pleased with.
