5 Steps to a New Kitchen
The five step process for an easy, enjoyable and satisfying kitchen design & installation
Step One: The Design Brief
At your first consultation, your Jag Kitchens designer will discuss your kitchen aspirations, style and space. We want to ensure we have a thorough understanding of what you'd like to achieve.
It is important to make an appointment so your designer can schedule uninterrupted time to spend with you when taking a design brief. This design brief will typically take one hour, so we can ensure we have all the information needed to design a suitable kitchen plan that meets your budget.
At this first appointment, your designer will discuss layout options for your new kitchen and work through a wish list to help establish what features, finishes and appliances best suit your needs.
Your designer will also take you through the different cabinet and benchtop materials available, which will help you to establish a realistic budget for your project.
At the completion of this design brief, your designer will arrange a second appointment at the Showroom, where you will be presented with a proposed kitchen plan and corresponding pricing.
What to bring:
Your designer will need measurements of your kitchen space. You can either take measurements or bring a copy of your house plans.
- Download our Kitchen Measuring Template
- Download our Kitchen Wish List Template
- Any print outs of kitchen design inspiration you love (check out our Pinterest Page for ideas!)
The plan you bring us does not need to be a masterpiece as we will always do a comprehensive site measure prior to manufacture. If you have any questions at all while measuring your kitchen space just give us a call.
Step Two: Design & Pricing Presentation
Your second appointment is where your new proposed kitchen design is presented to you, along with indicative pricing to match your budget.
You will view a realistic colour version of your proposed kitchen design, utilising 3D imagery, and will discuss different product and pricing options.
Any alterations to the design can usually be made during this appointment and you will be able to take 3D printouts of your design back home with you. We will also supply you with samples of door and benchtop materials that you are planning to use within your new kitchen design.
Step Three: Confirmation & Site Survey
After your second appointment, we will request that you confirm the kitchen design, and that you would like to move forward with your project. At this point we request a 30% deposit to secure your installation, and will arrange for a site survey to take place.
The site survey is designed to ensure that the kitchen will perfectly fit your space, ensuring there are no surprises on the day of installation. Our site survey staff will also be requesting details of your appliance choices if you have not already provided them to your designer. They will also discuss the various tradespeople that you will require, and the option of using your own tradespeople as opposed to Jag-recommended contractors.
Once the site survey is complete, it will be sent to your Jag Kitchens designer, so that they can make any minor adjustments to your plan prior to the production.
Your designer will then contact you to make an appointment to visit the showroom for final colour choices and sign-off on your kitchen design plan and specifications.
Step Four: Final Specifications
Your Jag Kitchens designer will invite you back to the Showroom for a follow-up meeting after your site survey has taken place. They will discuss any minor alterations to be made from the survey, and record your final choice of materials, colours, appliances and accessories.
At this stage you will be allocated an installation date and your finalised plan will be sent through to our local manufacturer so that the kitchen building process can be commenced.
If you are using Jag-recommended tradespeople, they will make contact with you to discuss the work that may needed to be done both prior to and after the kitchen is installed.
Step Five: Installation & Sign-off
The kitchen cabinets will be delivered the day before installation, and our installer will arrive on the arranged day to begin the installation process.
Our customer services team will phone you a week prior to your installation date to confirm you are ready and prepared for the installation to take place. At this stage your second payment is due, which will be 60% of your total.
The kitchen will be delivered one business day prior to installation so that the installer can get a good start the next morning. The installation of the cabinets typically takes one to two days to complete.
If you have ordered a laminate benchtop, it will be fitted at the same time as the cabinets. Stone tops are measured on site after the cabinets are installed. Standard, solid 20mm and 30mm benchtops are installed 5 working days after template. Mitred benchtops or those with waterfall ends take 10 days.
Our site survey staff will monitor your installation and be available to discuss and rectify any issues that may arise.
Once your kitchen installation is complete, our site survey staff will conduct a quality audit of your new kitchen. They will carry out any necessary adjustments before arranging for your Mastercraft 10 Year Craftsmanship Guarantee to be issued.
